This is one of our personal favourites – elegantly effortless. Not primarily a wedding dress designer, Giles Deacon created this one off piece for model, Abbey Clancy. Speaking specifically about Abbey he says, “She wanted a dress that was very flattering; very worked in its detailing; with a big romantic skirt that was cool not prissy. We made the corset base first then tried various skirt shapes and it developed in a very organic way.”
Abbey looked stunning in the bespoke piece with Peter Crouch wearing a three-piece tuxedo teamed up with an ivory tie and a white rose on his lapel to match Abbey’s bouquet.
Giles Deacon is best known for his wacky designs often using wild prints and pop culture references in his designs. He has described his designs as humorous, dark and sexy. Far from his norm, Abbey’s dress couldn’t be more different. He describes that his inspiration doesn’t come from past wedding gowns or his previous work but he collaborates with the client to make it personal and right for them.
He also explains the time and money put into the detail of creating wedding dresses and says it’s not something he will make a habit of doing, we hope for our brides-to-be out there he changes his mind very soon!
